Renovation Update, Part 15

Hello everyone!

This week was a major milestone in the project as the painters from Conrad-Schmitt departed and the scaffolding started coming down. I only have a few pictures to show you this week; there’s only so many ways to make scaffolding removal visually interesting. However, we’re slowly getting a look at the paint work as a whole, and the results are stunning.

Next week is likely to be more of the same, and then on to flooring!

Peace,

Fr. Brandon

Renovation Update, Part 14

Hello all!

It’s hard to believe it, but the painting stage of the church is nearly complete! The scaffolding will start to be disassembled this coming week, which will finally give us the opportunity to see the church in it’s entirety.

There was once again plenty of progress this last week. The stars were applied to the panels of the apse, and the invocation “All Holy Men and Women, Saints of God, Pray for Us” was painted over the sanctuary arch. These details are both applied with a gilded paint, and it reflects light beautifully!

The Stations of the Cross received a coat of paint, and the results look great! These are the stations that were already in the church, and will be placed in frames prior to being returned to the walls. The angels placed on either side of the tabernacle were painted in a similar way.

Finally, the drywall work along the back wall continues where the new windows and confessional will be installed. Once complete, the walls will be textured and painted to match the rest of the church.

I’m excited to see the church as the scaffolding starts to come down, and look forward to sharing the images with you next weekend!

Peace,

Fr. Brandon

Renovation Update, part 13

Hello!

At this point we really are reaching the final stages of the painting phase! This week was focused on details: adding final additions, touching up where needed, and preparing to wrap things up.

The chair rail, which wraps around the church a few feet above the floor, was painted and stenciled this week. This finished off the lower part of the wall, with the colors giving a beautiful visual foundation.

The ceiling of the main vault also received some final details. On the lighting front, the lights strips are now installed, the trim pieces have been added to the main recessed lighting, and some spot lighting has been added for the sanctuary! All of the new lights are LEDs, which provide much greater efficiency and control compared to the old lighting.

Finally, the panels to the left and right of the sanctuary were finished this week, and look excellent!

The next few weeks will bring a reduced amount of visual updates as the painting is finished and the scaffolding is removed at the end of the month. However, once the scaffolding is down we’ll finally be able to see the church as a whole! After that comes flooring in preparation for the new furniture.

Things are really moving along!

Peace,

Fr. Brandon

Renovation Update, Part 12

Happy Saturday!

At this point the end is in sight as far as painting goes, with less than a month remaining until the scaffolding comes down. This week once again had a lot of progress.

First, the kites along the bottom edges of the portion of the ceiling that drops down were finished this week and look great! They add a nice bit of color through the length of the church.

Next, the large wall panels behind where the statues of Mary and Joseph will go (where the baptismal font and piano used to be) received significant attention. The arch design here ties in with the windows, and makes the whole design of the church appear much more coherent.

The painters also started the stenciling along the ribs of the apse this week, trimming out the striking blue color.

Finally, the windows at the rear of the church between the entrance and cry room are getting finished up. It was a bit tricky working out the arches here, but the end result is looking excellent!

Peace,

Fr. Brandon
