Renovation Update, Part 3

Hello everyone!

I don’t have a huge update for you today, as this week has been a continuation of scaffolding construction. At this point the final decking is being added to the scaffolding which provide large, flat surfaces for the painters. Once you see how expansive the scaffolding is, you can understand why it took two weeks to install!

We’ve also had a painter in the church doing some repair work in preparation for the decorative painting. He’s primarily been working on the area along the walls above the radiators, where there were two layers of wallpaper which needed to be removed. Those areas have now been primed, and while we have a long way to go it was good to smell fresh paint in the church!

Finally, I’ve included a short video Fr. Jamie filmed at the beginning of the week with his drone which better demonstrates the scaffolding structure. I hope you enjoy it!

Peace,

Fr. Brandon

Renovation Update, Part 2

Hello, folks!

The main efforts this week were getting the scaffolding set up and continuing work in the choir loft. It will take around one more week to finish up the scaffolding, and then painting can begin! It’s impressive seeing how the scaffolding will allow access to every square inch of the walls and ceiling. The restructuring of the choir loft is pretty much complete, with just finishing work left to do. We started off the week with a giant hole in the choir loft, and ended the week with three large, usable platforms!

I’ve arranged the photos in a roughly chronological order as you scroll through the gallery so you can see stages of progress.

Also, thank you for all of the great feedback on the first update post! We’re happy to show off what’s going on, and it will only get more exciting as we start getting into the paint work.

Peace,

Fr. Brandon

Renovation Update, Part 1

Hello everyone! This is the first of a new series of blog posts I’ll be doing every week detailing some of the work being done in our church. I’m sure you’re all very curious as to what we’ve been doing, so we wanted to share the progress!

It’s been a very busy couple of weeks as we’ve kicked off the renovation. The pews are out, the carpeting pulled up, and the grill work behind the altar has been removed. Meanwhile, workers have been busy preparing the electrical work necessary to support our new lighting. Oh, and the choir loft currently doesn’t have a floor as the platform arrangement is being adjusted to better support our choir! It really has been a whirlwind of activity getting all of this going, and it’s exciting to see the years of planning starting to become reality. As I type this, the entire church is being filled with scaffolding to allow the painters access to the walls and ceilings. Things are going to start looking different quickly!

Stay tuned for more pictures at the end of this week, and I hope you’re as impressed by all of this as I am!

Peace,

Fr. Brandon
