Renovation Update, Part 17
/Hello!
The work this week focused on the flooring and carpentry work on the confessional/usher closet.
On Monday the floor of the entire church was scraped down, removing the old glue residue. This is an important step in preparing for the new flooring, but more immediately allowed for the installation of the new hearing loop. The hearing loop allows for individuals using hearing aids to directly access the output from our sound system, greatly enhancing their auditory experience. The strips of copper for the new loop are now installed, ready for the flooring to be installed on top. While we had a hearing loop in the church previously it was a retrofit installation limited by the location of the pews. This new loop is customized for our building, and should offer much more consistent coverage.
Construction began on the confessional and matching usher closet this week, with the framing, wiring, and initial drywall work all completed. The outside of these rooms will be covered with oak and stained to match the pews.
Finally, work continued in the choir loft, with some additional railings and wiring installed. The organ and piano were also moved upstairs in preparation for the installation of the organ speaker system.
The project is moving along well, and the list of things left to be done is slowly shrinking!
Peace,
Fr. Brandon
