Renovation Update, Part 18

Good morning!

This week we began the next major phase of the project: flooring installation. The flooring crew began laying out the tile work in the sanctuary, making all the cuts necessary for the oddly shaped space. On Friday the first sections were set into mortar. The photos below show the section where the altar will sit, and some of the detail along the wall. I also included a picture showing how the tile arrives on pallets; many of these pallet loads are required for the whole church!

Work also continued on the drywall and exterior oak paneling for the confessional/closet.

We also received word from the artist working on the reredos murals that the Crucifixion scene is nearly complete!

Finally, to assist the flooring installation more of the new lights in the sanctuary were powered on for the first time. I added the final photo to show this. There are more lights to go, but it is really looking excellent!
