Weekend of November 13-14, 2010 - Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Malachi 3:19-20                                   2 Thessalonians 3:7-12                                     Luke 21:5-19 The first reading warns that one day the proud and the evildoers will face dire consequences, but the faithful will be rewarded by God.  In the second reading, the faithful are advised to persist in living as Paul taught them.  In the Gospel, Jesus warns of terrible times to come, but those who persevere in faith will be saved.

Throughout the readings for this weekend we are instructed to persevere in our faith, even amidst adversity and difficulty.  Jesus promises that those who remain faithful, who keep their focus on Christ, and who persevere, help secure a place for themselves in heaven.  The faithful can be assured that the sun of justice will shine on them.
