Weekend of July 3-4, 2010 - Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 66:10-14                                         Galatians 6:14-18                           Luke 10:1-12, 17-20

Through the prophet Isaiah, God exhorts Israel to rejoice in his peace and love.  Paul reminds the Galatians that what binds them together is God’s peace and mercy, as revealed in the Cross of Christ, not nationality or religious heritage.  In the Gospel, Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples to help spread the Gospel.

Jesus sends out his disciples to spread the gospel message.  They are to trust God to provide for all their needs.  This type of trust is a core element of Christianity, and brings with it a sense of peace.  As we grow in faith and turn more things over to God, the peace that is growing in our hearts can be passed on to others.
