The first reading for the Fifth Sunday of Easter tells of the work that Paul and Barnabas did throughout the world, bringing many Gentiles to the faith. In Revelation, we hear about a vision of God's Kingdom coming in its fullness. In the Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples that he must soon leave them. He gives the command to love one another as he loves them. As Jesus prepares his disciples for the time when he will leave them, he gives them a new commandment. They are to love each other as He loves them. In fact, this will be how people will recognize the disciples of Jesus. And through this kind of love, we allow God to use us to help build up his Kingdom on earth and make all things new.
