Acts 10:34,37-43 Colossians 3:1-14 or 1 Corinthians 5:6-8 John 20:1-9 or Luke 24:1-12
In Easter’s first reading, Peter proclaims that Jesus is the one anointed by God as judge of all, and that, through Jesus, all people can receive forgiveness of sins. The second reading exhorts those who believe in Jesus to keep their minds on heaven. The Gospel tells of the discovery that Jesus is not in his tomb, and the confusion that results.
When we celebrate Easter, we celebrate, in body and spirit, Christ’s triumph over sin and death. On this day we enjoy rich foods and drink, reminding us of God’s goodness and the eternal banquet of heaven. We joyfully renew our baptismal vows, rejecting sin, promising to live as God’s children forever. and never forgetting the fullness of God’s love and his plan of salvation.
