Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18 Philippians 3:17-4:1 Luke 9:28-36 The first reading gives an account of God’s covenant with Abram. In the second reading, Paul encourages his listeners to put their trust in Jesus, rather than earthly things. In the Gospel, Jesus
is transfigured before three of his Apostles. A voice from the cloud told them they were to listen
to Jesus, God’s Son.
Living in a time of great uncertainty, people are searching for something or someone to rely on to help them cope with life’s trials. What is needed is an eye-opening experience, such as the Apostles when they saw Jesus transfigured. Mindful of this, let our lives help open people’s eyes to realize that in Christ our future is secure.
