Baruch 5:1-9 Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11 Luke 3:1-6 Baruch speaks of the renewal and restoration that God will bring about for Jerusalem and the people of Israel. The second reading gives us the reminder that God, who has begun a good work in us, will bring it to completion. In the Gospel, we hear how John the Baptist went about preparing the way for Jesus.
Paul’s letter to the Philippians expressed confidence that God, who had begun good work in them,
would bring it to completion. We can have a similar type of confidence if we are open to - and cooperate with - the grace of God by receiving the Sacraments, praying daily and reaching out to others with love.
