Daniel 12:1-3 Hebrews 10:11-14,18 Mark 13:24-32
The first reading speaks of the final judgment, when all those who ever lived will be judged by God. The second reading reminds us that the one, perfect sacrifice of Jesus brought us salvation. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches his followers to be watchful, for no one but the Father knows when the Son of Man will return.
Many of us become restless and afraid when we have to face the unknown, but the readings for the Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time give us hope. They remind us that even in our darkest hour, we can be sure of God’s love. Typical of the Gospel of Mark, our passage this week anti-
cipates the coming of the Kingdom and our need to be watchful and repentant.
