Weekend of November 7-8,2009-Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

1 Kings 17:10-16                                      Hebrews 9:24-28                                         Mark 12:38-44 The plight of two nameless widows in today’s first and third readings is used to emphasize God’s special love for the lowliest members of society, and for those who unselfishly give.  In the second reading, Paul speaks of the offering made to take away our sins.  Our reconciliation with God came through Jesus, whom God exalted and glorified.

When we think of Jesus, one of the characteristics that comes to mind is his sense of hospitality, especially to the outcasts within his society.  Jesus learned this from his family, his knowledge of Scriptures and his Jewish tradition.  Catholic tradition has continued to value the virtue of hos- pitality.  As faithful Catholics we are to love all people.
