Weekend of September 26-27, 2009 Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Numbers 11:25-29                                  James 5:1-6                                  Mark 9:38-43,45,47-48 The Spirit of God was with Moses and the seventy elders.  The Spirit was also with the two men who prophesied in the camp.  In the Gospel, Jesus affirms that acts done in his name will be rewarded; but destruction will come to those who lead others astray.  James warns us against riches gained at the expense of others.

Perhaps we think that God works in mysterious ways, picking some unusual people to carry out his work.  Jesus reminds us that anyone who is not against God is with him.  We must open our eyes, minds and hearts to see and accept God’s Spirit at work within ourselves and in all the people around us.
