Exodus 16:2-4,12-15 Ephesians 4:17,20-24 John 6:24-35 From Exodus we hear about the bread that came from heaven and became food for the Israelites in the desert. The people in the Gospel had eaten of the loaves that Jesus multiplied, but now they want more signs of his power. Jesus declares that he is the bread of life. It is through faith that we can share in this heavenly bread.
In the desert, God called the Israelites to a renewed faith. The people had never seen manna before, but this food from heaven would sustain them on their journey. Our faith calls us to think in new ways, too. Do we nourish our faith with the Eucharist as often as we can? Do we put our complete trust in God when life is difficult?
